چکیده

The general mission of naval fire support is to destroy, neutralize, or suppress enemy targets. Naval surface fire support (NSFS) may be provided by naval gunfire or naval air fire. For successful NSFS mission completion, one of the major requirements is to obtain reliable estimates of damage inflicted upon the enemy target. We consider the problem of estimating the probability that NSFS destroys a point target, given that the miss distance variables are normally and independently distributed east -west and north -south of the target. Conventionally, a bivariate normal distribution has often been used to obtain the kill probability in this situation. The main objective of this paper is to find a procedure which facilitates the computation process of the lethality probability by using a Rayleigh distribution. When a circular lethality coverage is assumed, we demonstrated that the kill probability is precisely governed by a Rayleigh distribution.

Vibration Analysis for Rectangular Plate Having a Circular Central Hole with Point Support by Rayleigh-Ritz Method

In this paper, the transverse vibrations of rectangular plate with circular central hole have been investigated and the natural frequencies of the mentioned plate with point supported by Rayleigh-Ritz Method have been obtained. In this research, the effect of the hole is taken into account by subtracting the energies of the hole domain from the total energies of the whole plate. To determine th...

Predicting and preparing a risk map of rangeland fires using random forest algorithms and support vector machine (Case study: Arak rangelands)

Abstract Background and objectives: Rangeland fires have devastating effects on the landscape, performance and services of rangeland ecosystems. Despite the efforts of experts, decision makers, stakeholders and government agencies in recent decades to reduce the effects of fire, its number and related economic and human losses are increasing worldwide. One of the most important measures to r...

Effects of Viscosity Variations on Buoyancy-Driven Flow from a Horizontal Circular Cylinder Immersed in Al2O3-Water Nanofluid

The buoyancy-driven boundary-layer flow from a heated horizontal circular cylinder immersed in a water-based alumina (Al2O3) nanofluid is investigated using variable properties for nanofluid viscosity. Two different viscosity models are utilized to evaluate heat transfer enhancement from a cylinder. Exact analytic solutions of the problem are attained employing a novel...

Investigation on Buckling of Orthotropic Circular and Annular Plates of Continuously Variable Thickness by Optimized Ritz Method

This paper investigates symmetrical buckling of orthotropic circular and annular plates of continuous variable thickness. Uniform compression loading is applied at the plate outer boundary. Thickness varies linearly along radial direction. Inner edge is free, while outer edge has different boundary conditions: clamped, simply and elastically restraint against rotation. The optimized RayLeigh-Ri...
